There are so many ways to put your name out on the web. You can start a profile page at any number of locations with Facebook being one of the most popular. You can also head on over to Yahoo and Google and start a news group so everyone can receive your email newsletters. Post at numerous classified sites and so on.
However, if you are not careful you may lose track of some of your subscribers and your subscribers may lose track of you. Your goal is to increase your subscribers or friends not reduce them. One way to maintain that group of people is to give them a default place to find you.
When I first started online, I thought No, websites are hard to start and domains are expensive. Boy was I wrong. Setting up and maintaining a website can be free and owning your own domain name can run between $10 to $20 a year. Not including the new .xxx domains that can run about $75 to $125 a year.
A number of companies will allow you to build your own website free of charge. However, without your own domain name you will have a web address that looks something like this: http://emoney003.webs.com/ rather than www.MadamJenny.com or www.Witchdoc003.com . Yahoo, MSN, Freewebs and others allow you to utilize a free program built into their website to build your site and pages. Whether you are familiar with html or not, they can be very helpful and may help save time in building your site or give you ideas on how to set up your website.

If you do not want to start up an actual website but wish to maintain a profile page with the many social sites out there, you can still purchase a .com domain and have it forward to which ever site you are using. Once you purchase your domain you can go into your account settings and click on forwarding and type in the page you wish to have the domain forwarded to. Some companies offer forwarding with the purchase of your domain others charge a small fee from about $1 to $4 per year to forward. At this point you do not have to build a site at all, just maintain your social group page. As time goes on you can later build your own site, move to another social group and just make sure your domain is always forwarded to your active place on the web. Having a domain names also gains some trust from possible subscribers. What makes you more comfortable when searching the web? Clicking on something that looks like http://emoney003.webs.com/ or something that looks like www.MadamJenny.com ?
By starting up a website you allow your subscribers a home base when it comes to you and all the programs you offer. For example, look at me, Jenny Lee. I cannot settle on just one idea or product, let alone any of those ideas or products being in the same category. So I have multiple Pages and Blogs.
Jenny’s Rants and Raves: Where I talk about pretty much anything in the news. From politics, religion and more.
Jenny’s Naughty News: For anything adult or over the age of 18.
The Frugal Shopper’s Page: For sales, specials, sweepstakes and more.
Fancifully Healthy: For Recipes, Weight Loss ideas, Health and Fitness and more.
eMoney: Learn how to work online, Companies to work with for free, and of course more.
The hyperlinks above direct people to my Facebook pages. However, each page is also located at different yahoo groups. If I had to promote each page individually for both Facebook and Yahoo it would take some time and I may not find all those interested in each group. However, by sending everyone to one webpage: http://www.madamjenny.com/apps/blog/ located within www.MadamJenny.com . It totally makes my life easier and gives me more time to do other things whether it be online, around town, at home, etc.
Hopefully this blog has given you a few ideas and possibly helped you in your endeavors online.
